Decatur Forsyth Classic
The Decatur-Forsyth Classic is the longest running tournament on the LPGA Symetra Tour and the third longest running women’s golf tournament on the LPGA. This year, the tournament at Hickory Point Golf Club will showcase a three day, 54 –hole stroke play professional tournament featuring a purse of $130,000.
For 32 years, the Decatur-Forsyth Classic has been a fixture on the Decatur summer calendar. Fans throughout Central Illinois travel to Decatur to watch as 144 players from the United States, and around the world, compete to earn their spot on the LPGA Tour. Past champions have included two-time winner Tammie Green, Marilyn Lovander, Vicky Hurst, and four-time Rolex LPGA Player of the Year Award winner Lorena Ochoa.
The Symetra Tour — Road to the LPGA is the official developmental tour of the LPGA and enters its 36th competitive season in 2016. With the support of its umbrella partner, Symetra, the Tour’s mission is to prepare the world’s best young women professional golfers for a successful career on the LPGA Tour. Since Symetra’s inaugural sponsorship year in 2012, the Symetra Tour has grown from 16 tournaments and $1.7M in prize money to $3.5M in prize money awarded over the course of 23 tournaments — the most events in 27 years (1988). With more than 600 alumnae moving on to the LPGA, former Symetra Tour players have won a total of 418 LPGA titles.
